Massey University - Bachelor of Veterinary Science - 5 years of full-time
study course.
Anyone who wishes to work as a veterinarian in New Zealand must have a degree
in Veterinary Science that is registrable with the Veterinary Council of New
Zealand.
The Massey University Bachelor of Veterinary Science is the only such
degree available from a New Zealand University. The Professional Phase of the
programme is available only at Massey's Turitea Campus, Palmerston North.
Entry
into the programme is restricted to 75 applicants annually who have permanent
residence in New Zealand and receive a government subsidy, plus additional non-subsidised
students.
It is a five year full-time internal programme and on average about
220 students enrol for the first semester of BVSc 1.
There is no restriction
on entry into the Semester One of BVSc 1, but only those who have done well academically
are likely to be offered places in Semester Two of BVSc 1. It is also possible
for graduates and part-graduates to apply to enter and be selected into the programme.
