Pet Ants - Feeding

Having now set up your tank completely and introduced the queen colony and fungus ‘garden’ you need to set up a bridge between the nesting cube and the second, feeding platform. This platform can now be used to place the leaves that the ants will find, cut up, and transport back, over the bridge, to the nesting cube. You can not ‘overfeed’ your ants but you can ‘underfeed’ – so make sure, as the colony grows, they always have some fresh green leaves to go at!

As you add leaves to the tank daily there will be a corresponding amount of waste generated by the ants. The ants will deposit their waste outside the nesting cube wherever they can. So the feeding platform and the water in the moat are going to need keeping clean. Remember to switch the water heater off if you lower the water level!

Once fully established the ongoing maintenance on the tank is simple. Just keep the tank tidy and the water clean.
