Ardent Pets Saved Life of Seriously Injured Dog - Dog Leg Injuries
Veterinary Nurse Ruth Osborne and
Karl Osborne, owner of Ardent Pets have just saved the life of a seriously injured
dog.

The stray was rushed to Pype
Hayes Veterinary Centre by three police officers
from Sutton Coldfield Police Station on the morning of Tuesday 4th November 2008.
The
young crossbreed had been hit by a car on Chester road adjacent to Pype
Hayes Park and was in severe shock when she arrived at the surgery. The dog was in
a critical condition and veterinary surgeon Michelle Coia saved the young pups
life for the first time.
After
48 hours of intensive care and fluid therapy she was in a stable condition but
still had no movement in one of her front legs. Vet Michelle was then able to
take x
rays to determine the extent of her injuries. Amazingly she had not broken
any bones but had suffered irreversible nerve damage to her right front leg which
would require amputation.
With no microchip and no
owner coming forward it seemed that this poor pooches luck had run out. As no
one was prepared to take on the dog and the veterinary bill she would have to
be put to sleep.
Ruth and her husband Karl Osborne came forward and offered to
fund the essential operation saving the dogs life for a second time. The dog
christened Poppy for Remembrance
Sunday will now be the mascot for their pet
supplies website www.Ardentpets.co.uk.
This is not the first time that Ardent Pets have leapt in to help a pet in need.
Karl said “We always try to help animals in need. It isn’t always
possible because we hear of many cases. Hopefully if we have a good Christmas
we will continue to use our profits to help animals in the New Year”.
Ruth
explained “Poppy is due to have her leg amputated on Monday 10th
November and is expected to make a speedy recovery based on the courage and determination
she has shown so far”.
We hope that after reading Poppy’s story, her
owners may come forward. Maybe her story will remind people about the importance
of microchipping, pet insurance and keeping your pet indoors during the fireworks
season to avoid accidents like this Dog Leg Injury.
