Feature - People and Dogs Society (PADS)
The People and Dogs Society (PADS) are a small UK charity offering help and advice to those with dog health problems, dog behaviour problems and dog training problems etc, in fact any dog related problems! Their website offers information and practical tips about caring for dogs, presented in a way that's fun and easy to understand. There are also games and photos, plus details of their latest events.
You will also find details of their "Canine Advice Life Line", a telephone service which again are offering advice on all kinds of dog health problems, dog behaviour problems and dog training problems etc! This service has now been extended to include email, so people from all over the world can turn to PADS for help with their dogs.
Most of the people who contact them need advice on some fairly straightforward matters but some queries are more challenging. The Society boasts that it can find an answer to almost any dog related question, however unusual!
A policy of confidentiality prevents publication of too many details, but they have been asked for hair dye for a dog going to a Millennium party, and a breeder for "Chinese Jacuzzi" puppies (later found to be Shih Tzu)!
They are also often contacted by TV, radio and freelance journalists, or students researching dog related projects, and are happy to help.
