Ferrets - Toys
Before you give your ferret(s) anything to play with, give the toy a good tug yourself to make sure that nothing small will come off and cause a choking hazard for your furry friend.
Ferrets will play with just about anything, but cat toys do seem to be the way to go. Avoid ones with 'squeakers' that can become dislodged,
or you can improvise
a plastic 4.5 litre (catering size) plastic container with three or four 7.5cm holes cut into the top and sides makes a good gym.
7.5cm cardboard or plastic pipe sections, particularly with elbow sections make an interesting diversion.
Old (bald) tennis balls with a 2cm hole(s) cut into it, to allow it to be picked up are great too.
A number of deep blocks of wood fastened together tower block style (like jengo) with 7.5cm spaces will entertain.
A piece of thick rope about 15cm long will be 'ragged' and played with.
If you want to try doing without a ferret nest box and have a ready supply give your ferret a whole (old) sweat shirt in one corner of the cage and let the ferret(s) sort it out for themselves - once they find the neck hole they'll be away!
When you go to a charity shop or car boot sale look for smallish things like rush work baskets, etc that can be made into an adventure playground. Your ferret will loved those.
Basically, use your imagination, just be careful about what can harm your pet.
