Interpet Publishing has launched a new book titled Keeping A Pet Tortoise, by specialist authors Andrew and Nadine Highfield. Although tortoises have been popular pets for many years, they have never been easy pets to look after. All reptiles have very precise environmental and dietary requirements and tortoises are no exception. The new book is ideal for all tortoise enthusiasts providing comprehensive accessible information.

Keeping A Pet Tortoise explains how to set up home for a new tortoise and keep it in the best of health. The book covers the well-known Mediterranean species as well as more exotic tropical tortoises. It provides essential information on all aspects of tortoise ownership from buying a pet to everyday well-being, housing set-ups, hibernation advice, breeding and hatchling care. Keeping A Pet Tortoiseis the perfect starter book, it is written by experts with up-to-date easy to follow information and 130 colour photographs. The illustrations in this book are particularly impressive including amazing photos of an infant tortoise breaking out of its shell. Andy Highfield has published several books on keeping and breeding tortoises and written numerous scientific papers. He has also contributed to most of the major reptile-keeping magazines both as author and photographer and lectures all over the world on tortoise conservation and captive management. Nadine Highfield was raised around turtles in New Jersey and Rhode Island and this led to her developing a lifelong interest in their conservation, rescue and rehabilitation. Andy and Nadine founded the Tortoise Trust in 1984.
