A new range of radio frequency identification (RFID) Cat Mate cat flaps has just become available.

The programmable device allows cat owners to personalise the control of access for between one and eight cats! The cat flap recognises each cat in a household as individuals, with the owner being able to set the time the cats are allowed to go outside, or even come inside. This new Elite range from Pet Mate represents a giant leap forward in cat flap technology with many impressive and unique features including the groundbreaking use of high specification RFID. (Radio-Frequency Identification) technology. One of the advantages of the Elite cat flap system is that owners can give each cat different access settings, for passage in-bound or out-bound from the house!
The new range consists of three products, ‘Elite Super Selective’, ‘Elite Selective’ and ‘Elite 4 Way Locking’, all of which benefit from an updated slim-line look and modern design, using superior ABS and polycarbonate materials.
The ‘Elite Super Selective’ and the ‘Elite Selective’ cat flaps use R.F.I.D for electronic pet access on a totally new level. Each cat in the household wears a small lightweight (dog-tag style) disc, weighing 3 grammes and only 3mm thick, doubling as an identification disc. The disc, which does not require a battery, contains a minute microchip, partnered with a permanent reading device in the cat flap. The technology allows multiple cats in a house to be individually programmed (via the disc), allowing each cat individual access though the cat flap or all cats at a predetermined time. Only cats with the programmed disc can use the cat flap! The system is high tech, flexible and easy to use. Stops strays in their tracks - No disc - No entry!
The Cat Mate - ‘Elite Super Selective’ is the top of the range, and the first cat flap to feature an LCD display. This display feature shows, at a glance, whether chosen cats are 'in' or 'out' of the house. User-friendly symbols on the LCD display show houses ‘with cats inside’ or ‘without cats inside’. The display also shows exit lock status, time since chosen cat last used the flap and a low battery indicator – it’s really quite clever! The programme timer on the ‘Elite Super Selective’ is so sophisticated it allows owners with up to eight cats to keep their cats in the house during the local rush hour traffic times.
‘Elite Selective’, which also utilizes R.F.I.D, can be used with up to 7 unique I.D. discs. This model has an LED display showing entry and exit lock status, plus a low battery indicator.
The third product ‘Elite 4 Way Locking’ controls access manually. This new cat flap benefits from an updated and newly developed secure locking system. The locking system on the ‘Elite 4 Way Locking’ uses a unique combination of pins and cogs to produce a dead-lock effect for extra security.
Aside from the use of radio frequency, there are other new selling features running across all three Elite cat flaps. All Elite Cat Mate flaps have universal installation capability, and are easily fitted to glass, wood, metal, plastic or walls. Each model features a clear, stylised, fully draft and weatherproof brush sealed flap with a secure locking system. A 3-year guarantee covers the range, which is available in white and brown.
Suggested retail prices for ‘Elite Super Selective’ is £99.95, for ‘Elite Selective’ £74.95 and for ‘Elite 4 Way Locking ‘£24.95‘. Two ID discs are included with the ‘Elite Super Selective’ and with the ‘Elite Selective’. Extra I.D discs are sold separately at an RRP of £9.95 each. The range is available through better pet outlets.
