"Scampenstein" - Birmingham, UK based screenwriter Brendan O'Neill has a dream!

He wants his Scampenstein "Frankenstein-with-dogs" screenplay idea to be the first internet community generated and funded animated feature film!

Scampenstein screenwriter Brendan O'Neill - Scampenstein "Frankenstein-with-dogs" screenplay idea to be the first internet community generated and funded animated feature film!“It’s a novel concept - I want those who help me fund and create the film to then share in the rewards once it makes money.”

The idea is to invite people from the worldwide internet community to help raise funds with which to make the film.

“The target budget is around £1 million although this will depend on the final length screenplay, number of characters, scene settings etc.”

“That’s a lot of money but not a lot of money in the context of how much a blockbuster Hollywood style feature animation would normally cost.”

There are a number of different ways of helping.

Help to promote the film digitally:

Firstly there are opportunities for creative, internet / computer savvy types to help produce promotional materials with which to raise funds and awareness.

Scampenstein the movie - Poster - Scampenstein "Frankenstein-with-dogs" screenplay idea to be the first internet community generated and funded animated feature film! The Scampenstein project wants people such as animators, film makers, web designers, bloggers, bands, artists, DJs, writers and so on to create materials to help promote and raise funds.

This might include things like short promo animations, character designs, mock posters, ring tones, CDs or donated tracks, short films, sales of donated artwork, compilations and anthologies, Scampenstein themed games for children on mobile phone or PC, screensavers and so on.

In fact anything digital that can used as promotional material. People who receive these promo items would be asked to either donate or make a small contribution to the film fund.

Full credit and links to creator websites will of course be given. There are even plans for a Hall of Fame for the different types of materials created based on the best/most downloaded.

The Scampenstein project would also like to hear from volunteers within the business community to lend their expertise. Accountants, lawyers, ad agencies etc.

Help to promote the film physically:

This could vary from simply putting up the downloadable poster in a local library or community centre to events like sponsored dog walks or beauty contests, coffee mornings, selling off unwanted items on E-bay and donating the proceeds, parachute jumps, gigs, being sponsored to spend the night in a haunted house and so on.

There are all sorts of ways. Be creative! Surprise us with the novel ways you come up with to support the project.

One idea already suggested is a garden gnome like project with pictures of people and their pets with the posters they have put up in interesting places from all around the world.

Your dog - the movie star!

The involvement doesn’t end there as the project wants dog owners to get involved too.

One idea is for people to help raise funds by bidding on the right to choose the names and breeds of some of the dog characters via an on-line E-bay style auction - although obviously there would have to be a veto on names considered unsuitable.

There is also room for 2 cat characters - a posh pampered one and the other more of the cat burglar type! More on this as it develops.

There will also be other pooch oriented competitions, fund raising activities and other involvement opportunities as the project develops - for both people AND their pets!

So what next?
