Westie owners fall into a certain category, and Westie traits certainly come across in the owners. I found that when I originally wanted a West Highland White Terrier many years ago I nurtured this belief that I was going to get this gorgeous cute ball of white fluff and that she (I was always going to have a girl) was going to be a real lap dog who would give me no trouble at all – Boy was I mistaken! fussy, stubborn, independent, and moody - to describe a few of her mannerisms - and as she gets to mellow into an older lady now even more so.....yes very similar traits to her owner!
I can only relate to this as the owner of a Westie, although I am sure that it is evident in the owners of other breeds of dog, but when out and about do you find yourself spotting other Westies (even at a great distance) and feel the uncontrollable urge to go and engage their master ( I use the term loosely as I never really believe that I am Holly's master) in “The Westie Comparison Chat”? This weird phenomenon is happening at this very moment and it's happening out there on our streets, in our parks and in our woods! WHY DO WE DO THIS? Is it a psychological part of being a “Westie Owner”? Does getting our first Westie cause a change in our genes or chromosomes or whatever else makes us normal human beings. If our Westies could talk (well I know you would say they do actually) what do they think they would say about us as owners!! Mmmmmmm
Finally, if you are considering becoming a slave to a West highland White Terrier please don’t let us stop you, you are in for the best time of your life, enjoy every moment with your new pet, oh and of course don't forget to shop at WWW.WHATWESTIESWANT.COM Article provided by Celia Goodwin and Laurie Broughton.
